Day1 Brisbane to Millmerran 19/09/2022
The first day of our trip with high hopes.

and my thriving herb garden. Wondering how they will all be when we get back

We had planned to head off reasonably early to reach Kev and Paula’s at Glenore Grove for morning tea. We were on track but then unfortunately the car didn’t seem to want to start. ☹️
Finally got it all sorted but meant we ended up having an early lunch, instead of morning tea. Good to catch up and spend a bit of time with Paula and Kev

On the road again. Easy going. Still managed to reach our planned destination in good time

A decent amount of water in it still

Lots of signs and posters in this area against the Inland Rail coming through here

Pleased to see this sign - heading to Gundi tomorrow

Reached Millmerran, our planned destination just before 4pm

The iconic water tower with it’s mural at the turn off to where we were planning to stay the night

Found out about this place on Wikicamps.

We expected it to be full as it is only a small park but we arrived early enough to get a good spot.

A few people rolled in after us

We walked to the nearest pub for dinner, along one of the towns big wide streets

Past significant buildings

Made it to the pub as the sun was setting

Sat out in the beer garden with our drinks

Could watch the sun going down through the fence

Unfortunately the chef at the pub had left so there were no meals there. However, we did find a local cafe - The Black Cat where we shared a fish and chips and salad meal between us. Then back to the Rams Head for another drink, enjoying this beautiful sky on the way back

Back at the van I managed to load the SPOT tracking map
Now I have the link on my phone I can check if the SPOT is tracking.
Leaving behind our pretty garden.

Enjoyable drive, passing the typical sights for this part of the countryside - massive grain silos

After passing through Toowoomba we headed out on the Gore Highway

But took a detour through Pittsworth to check it out

Beautiful old church in Pittsworth

Back on the highway again

We remembered this beautiful mural at the junction with the highway at Moore Trailers business

The usual large trucks on the highwa. Can’t wait to get onto some minor roads!!!

Passed over the Condamine. Last time we were over this way it was flooding

Bed now and ready for Day 2. Hopefully the pending storms won’t hinder our plans for our next destination
Finally getting to read this before we head off for another week sans technology :)
