Day 10 Morning Glory to Broadford
Full morning but fortunately not raining as we were packing up and moving on today
Walked down the muddy road to the amenities. The people that had been camping there had moved on, I think they must have got fed up with the wet as their van was in water !!
No one around so sat and looked at the view whilst on the dunny 😜

Time to move on and leave our lovely high and dry camp spot

Bill had taken note of the height of the river when we arrived by using a little stump poking out of the water as a marker.

Bill had taken note of the height of the river when we arrived by using a little stump poking out of the water as a marker.
He noted that the level of the river mustn’t have dropped or risen as the stump was at the same height

We went over a bridge over the Murray at Barmah. I missed taking a photo of it as I hadn’t realised that we passed over the Murray again, especially as the guy at the info centre had told us that there were only 2 bridges over the Murray in this area and we drove over 2 between Moama and Echuca

We continued on the C358 to Shepparton

Passed lots of orchards on this road

Passed this cidery, unfortunately it was closed☹️ They are making good use of all the apples that grow in this region

Turned off onto the Goulburn Valley Highway

Drove through Shepparton

Not much to see, looked like a small country town until this huge high rise came into view

Main street had some well established pretty trees lining it

Then we came across another tall building

Passed over the Broken River just south of Shepparton

Next destination Nagambie where we were hoping to find somewhere to pull up for some lunch

Passed over the Seven Creeks at Kialla

The Highway then became a Freeway

Continuing south

Over Castle Creek with water in it, probably normally a dry creek

No one else around probably because it was very muddy around but we found a nice dry grassy area where we could open the van up and make wraps to eat for lunch
Went up to the bridge to check it out

Traffic now separated as a true freeway

And a name change from Goulburn Valley HWY to Goulburn Valley FWY

Turned off the fwy to go into Nagambie

Headed towards the lakes to find a lunch spot

No such luck finding anywhere to stop near the lake - cars parked all along the side of the road. I did however manage to get a photo of the Black Caviar statue as Bill slowed down in front of it

We decided to head out on the wineries road hoping to find the Chinamans Bridge rest area that was mentioned in Wikicamps

We found it on the banks of the Goulburn River

Pretty flowers in the area

This is where we pulled up. As I said lots of mud around but we managed to find a dry grassed area to pull up. Hidden behind the trees in this photo

We walked over to the river to check out the bridge from below before leaving

A better view of where we pulled up

Looked across at the Chinamans bridge over the Goulburn as we headed back out to the highway

More Canola growing at the side of the road. Everywhere that I have seen it I have wanted to go up close and inspect it especially the flower but the fields are always fenced off with barb wire. Must be a valuable crop!

Couldn’t work out what this was in the middle of the huge island at the turn off back onto the highway, on closer inspection and realising that we had just come from a wine region I realised how clever and topical it was

Back onto the Freeway

Turned off the Freeway to go into Seymour

Headed into Seymour

Found out about the Vietnam Veterans commemorative walk

So spent some time looking at it all

A lot of work and effort has gone into this well deserved memorial honouring all the forces in their duty to service

Found Dan

Found Nev

Back out from Seymour

Over the Goulburn river again

On the highway

But then turned off at Tallarook to check out the Rail Trail

Lots of different doable sections

Looks pretty

Worth doing some time

Through the town of Tallarook

Onwards to Broadford

Taking the exit off the highway

Into Broadford

Our route for the day

and our pretty rest stop for the night

Found this on Wikicamps

Free camping at the bowls club.

A few vans there already

But we found ourselves a nice little spot by the creek

After setting up and relaxing for a bit we headed off to walk to the pub. Had no idea that there would be so many interesting things to look at along the way,,,

Hume and Hovell story

A historical display

A Straw Boiler…Bill next to it to show the size

The old school

The Courier office

Old cottages

The goal

We finally got to the pub. A bit cold getting there but warm and cosy inside. The special for the night was different versions of Parma so we both ordered Parma. It came with chips and salad. Needless to say neither of us finished our meals and in hindsight should only have ordered one between us . I had a red wine with my meal and Bill had a Woodcutters amber ale
