Testing Technology

Seeing as we had forgotten to cancel our subscription to ‘The Spot’ I decided to test it to see if I could get it working again and Wow hey presto I got it to work.

An email message was sent….

And the links in the email worked too…

AND using the app on Bill’s phone to turn the tracking on and off also worked….
This screen shot shows where I had sent the  ‘Check in OK’ message from.
Note: the toggle for tracking was on START

This screenshot shows where I had turned tracking on ie the Tracking toggle icon shows STOP which indicates that the tracking is on.
The map now shows another pin - this time indicating a track pin.
If I had left tracking on and had relocated, then another pin would show where I was 10 minutes later

The other thing that I am testing on this post is - posting from my phone using the app BlogTouch.
Using this app I can post on the fly and save my posts as drafts and post them when there is internet access

    1. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to resolve how to see the route tracking on line that used to work and now doesn't :-( The links don't seem to work anymore I am going to try contacting them on Monday.

  2. So does that mean we can't see the tracking at the moment. I got ours working by sending an email thro SPOT to me, and then just re-sent that email to others and it all worked (the tracking map that is!)

    1. Hi Harry
Not sure how you got yours working as I am not sure what you mean by sending an email thro Spot to you.
We have done some more fiddling with it today and have found where we can activate Sharing. A lot more complicated than it used to be but I think I have got it now. I also discovered that it can be shared on Facebook directly which I have also done.
The link to see the track is https://maps.findmespot.com/s/DTWX
It appears that through this link the user can change the time frame to see it live or history for a particular date range
See if this works for you and if this is how you did it?

    2. Hi Lin, I copied your link and emailed it to myself so now I can get to it easily. When I set up my spot recently (it wasn't working for my recent trip down to Clare Valley) there was somewhere in the SPOT setting up where you could share the link with people via SPOT emailing it. So I shared the link to myself, then all I had to do was re-send that email to who ever I wanted to track me. Does that make sense? The reason it wasn't working for my Clare Valley trip I think was because the link had changed and I think that had something to do with some takeover of the SPOT business.
