Day 38 Enjoying Coffin Bay
Saw this bike leaning against a tree yesterday near to where we were camped and then spotted the owner packing it up ready to leave so I went over and chatted to the person very interesting story about his travels.
He was heading off to camp in the Coffin Bay National Park and I told him we were heading that way so he asked if we would take his two big water containers there for him to Big Yangie campsite number 11
He allowed me to take a photo of the distance that he has travelled since he left in June!!!!
it took us a while before we left because having done all our washing of clothes yesterday we decided that we would wash the bedsheets today because we didn’t know when again we would have access to a washing machine
Also because it was tending towards lunchtime I made some wraps for us to have when we reached the National Park

We stopped off at the entrance to the park to take photos of the information and maps etc so that we could make sense of where we were going and what we were doing

There was Internet here so we were able to logon and pay the National Park entrance fee

The main road through the park was all surfaced

Glimpses of sandhills in the distance

We took the turn off to Yangie Bay Campground to catch up with Sol to give him his water containers

But stopped off at Templetonia look out on the way past

Love these sculptures at each of the points of interest

Boardwalk out to the lookout

Good news with the occasional ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds

And excellent information boards explaining what we could see in each direction

More different pretty wild flowers growing along beside the boardwalk

On the road through the National Park again came to the turn off to Yangie Bay Campground

We went past the Yangie Bay Campground turn off because Sol had told us he had booked in to site 11 at Big Yangie campground and WikiCamps had directed us beyond this point to reach Big Yangie campground

So we headed off along this track debating about letting down our tyres as the sign had indicated

Fortunately at this point we came across the motorbike rider that we called Sheffield because he was from Sheffield that I had been chatting to earlier in the campground.

We asked him if he had seen the cyclist and he said yes he was at Yangie campground at the picnic table there.
Very fortunate in fact that we had come across the motorbike rider and stopped to chat to him because otherwise we would have gone all the way along to Big Yangie and not found him there

Whilst on that section of the road I took some photos

We then turned around and went back to the entrance to the Yangie Bay campground where Sol was waiting for us.

we sat in the shelter there and ate our wraps and Sol sat with us and chatted with us.

He was very interesting to listen to about his travels
He said he was a woofer which I had heard of but had forgotten what it was.
It is WWOOFer and stands for Worldwide opportunities on organic farms.
He has had some interesting and rewarding experiences with this organisation

We had a look at the noticeboards and also at what trails there were to walk on and came to the conclusion that there was only one suitable for us at that time and that was the loop walk

Sol was about to go on that walk when we turned up with his bottles so he decided to come on the walk with us

Great views out to the bay

Useful informative signage along the way

Lots of pretty wildflowers

A pretty walk rocky and rugged at times

Birdlife

This signage was at the turn of the loop where the other two much longer tracks went off from

We stopped at a few points along the way to look at the views and interesting things

I forgot to start all trails so I just took this image of the map that was online that showed where the loop walk went

Came across this lizard on the pathway

Came across this lizard on the pathway
So Bill picked him up and moved it off the pathway
More informative signs along the way
This is where we had great views to the beautiful clear water
Saw a few roos
This is where we saw fish jumping out of the water
Realising how time was marching on and that there were other areas of the Coffin Bay National Park that we wanted to visit we headed off out of the campground
Fabulous views as we were driving along
Stopped at the clayton’s look out
And at the Avoid Bay Lookout
Where we walked down the boat ramp to the beach
Interesting rock formations here
Where Bill took several distance photos of me behind the rocks
And we took a few photos of us on the beach in Avoid Bay
Next we headed on to the two look outs
Point Avoid first
Then on to Golden Island look out
Where we went down to the beach
And wow what an amazing beach
Beautiful white sand
And no one else there
After enjoying this section of the National Park we headed back into Coffin Bay however Bill had realised his glasses must have fallen out of his pocket when we got out at the first look out so we stopped there to check and sure enough they were there on the road but unfortunately someone had driven over them cracking one of the lenses
This is our overall Hema maps travels for the day into the National Park
And this map shows our travels within the park
I had forgotten to take a photo of our campsite earlier in the day so this is our campsite when we got back with relief there were still nobody parked/camped right next to us
It was a nice spot right next to the bushes with kangaroos coming to visit us
We had liked it so much at the oyster shack the day before where we just had oysters that we decided that we would book for dinner for tonight with the table overlooking the ocean
Weather wasn’t the best but we still had a great view sitting at one of the tables around the corner out of the wind
And enjoyed a selection off their tapas menu
Because it was still light after our dinner we decided to go along part of the Oyster walk towards the yacht club
Interesting information on this board along the Oyster Walk
Not sure what this is meant to be but it’s obviously just newly built
Love this gnarly tree where we could conjure up all sorts of images of animals
We ended up going into the yacht club for more drinks and relaxation looking out to the bay and this brand-new jetty that was only opened last week
Back past the gnarly tree with different images
And back along the oyster walk
And back to our campsite for our last night in Coffin Bay
